Jhansi: Slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's youngest son, Abaan, was reportedly killed in a road accident while he was traveling to meet his jailed brother in the Uttar Pradesh city of Jhansi on Thursday, police said.
As per reports, Abaan was traveling from Prayagraj to Jhansi jail to visit his brother when the incident happened. His car collided with a divider on the highway near the Poonch police station area of Jhansi. A total of two people, including Abaan, were killed and three others were seriously injured in the accident.
Police arrived to the scene and immediately rushed the injured to the hospital. Mohammad Zaid and Omar were among three others injured in the accident and are being treated in the hospital.
The speeding car reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a divider on the highway and the front of the car sustained huge damage.
According to the SSP in Jhansi, Abaan, son of late Atiq Ahmed, who was the head of the mafia, succumbed to his injuries when the speeding vehicle hit a divider. Sonu, the friend of his, also lost his life during the incident.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident. The circumstances of the accident and the speed of the car are also being investigated. The police are on site and are collecting evidence.
Abaan Ahmed was one of Atiq Ahmed's youngest sons. Since the murder of Umesh Pal, Abaan and his brother, Ajam, have been lodged in a juvenile home due to their minority status. Then, both were dropped off at juvenile home later in October 2023 and handed over to their aunt.
On October 1, 2025 Ali Ahmed, son of Atiq Ahmed was shifted from Naini Jail to Jhansi Jail. Abaan's family was said to be travelling to meet him in Jhansi.
