Germany: Germany has announced a big relief for those holding Indian passports. Now people who change flights at German airports while going to another country will not have to obtain a transit visa. This means that there will be no need to get a separate visa for a stay of a few hours.
This was stated in a joint statement issued by India and Germany. This statement came after the visit of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to India. Marj came to India on 12 and 13 January. This was his first visit to India and also his first visit to Asia after becoming Chancellor.
Now Indian travelers will get relief from paperwork, long waits, and additional expenses. Earlier, many people used to get trapped in transit visa just for changing flights. Many times the travel planning got spoiled due to this reason. Now traveling through Germany will become easier and faster.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed this decision and thanked Germany. He said that this will make the travel of Indian citizens easier and the contact between the people of the two countries will become stronger.
The joint statement said that good relations between common people are the real strength of the partnership between India and Germany. Both the countries acknowledged that the movement of students, researchers, working people, artists and tourists is continuously increasing. Germany also recognized that the Indian community living there has contributed well to the economy and work.
There was also a special discussion on education and skills in the meeting. The number of Indian students studying in Germany is increasing rapidly. Universities of both the countries are jointly running courses like joint and dual degrees.
Apart from this, there was also discussion on helping Indian students get jobs in Germany after studies. It was agreed to increase cooperation between IITs and technical universities of Germany. Prime Minister Modi also invited big German universities to open their campuses in India.
Overall, this decision is not just limited to making travel easier but is also considered an important step towards bringing the two countries closer at the level of common people.
