Goa: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has expressed deep condolences after the massive fire in Arpora, Goa. 23 people lost their lives in this accident, the news of which has shocked the entire state. The Chief Minister said that it is very sad to lose so many people and this incident is a huge loss for Goa.
He wrote on social media that many families have lost their loved ones, and in such times even words fall short. He assured that the state government is with every affected family and whatever is necessary will be done to help them.
CM Sawant said that he has inspected the incident site and has asked for a complete report. He said that it is necessary to find out how the fire broke out and whether safety rules were followed in the club. He said that if any kind of negligence comes to light, action will be taken very strictly.
He also said that such an incident is a matter of concern in a tourist state like Goa. If a business ignores safety rules, it directly puts people's lives at risk.
According to Goa DGP Alok Kumar, the control room was informed about the fire at 12.04 am. Police, the fire brigade, and an ambulance reached there immediately. He said that the fire has been controlled and all the bodies have been recovered. A total of 23 deaths have been confirmed.
Officials say the fire broke out in a restaurant-cum-nightclub. Emergency teams reached the spot and spent the whole night controlling the situation. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, while work is also being done to provide help to the families of the deceased.
Officials have started a detailed investigation into the cause of the fire. Initial information points towards a cylinder explosion, but the real reason will become clear only after the investigation is completed. The government has said that the investigation of the case will be done with complete transparency, and strict action will be taken against whoever is held responsible.
