New Delhi: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday made a big announcement rearding the Vande Bharat sleeper train which is expected start operations between Guwahati and Kolkata later this month.

At New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the train and reviewed the facilities available. He said that eight new Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be launched in the next six months. By the end of the year, their number will increase to 12.
The minister said that the train will be operational in the next 15 to 20 days. This will be the first Vande Bharat sleeper train connecting two states. It will be a significant step towards improving rail travel in India.
The 16-coach AC train has a passenger capacity of 823. There are 11 Third AC coaches, four Second AC coaches, and one First AC coach. 611 passengers can travel in Third AC, 188 in Second AC, and 24 in First AC.
This train can travel at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour. Along with amenities, special attention has been paid to safety. It is equipped with the automatic train protection system Kavach, a fire safety system, and AI-based cameras. It also has sensor-operated doors.
The seats are comfortable, and cleanliness has been given special attention. Disinfection technology is included to maintain high hygiene standards. This technology destroys 99.9 percent of germs.
The first Vande Bharat sleeper train, which will run between Guwahati and Kolkata, will have a relatively small difference in fares between the Third AC and First AC classes. Currently, in many trains, the fare difference between these two classes is almost two and a half times, while in the sleeper Vande Bharat train, this difference will be approximately one and a half times. This will provide significant relief to passengers.
The fare for this train will be Rs 2,300 for Third AC (including meals), Rs 3,000 for Second AC, and Rs 3,600 for First AC. The minister said that the airfare between Guwahati and Kolkata is between Rs 6,000 and Rs 8,000.
