Gurgaon Businessman Commits Suicide; Posts Video Blaming Wife and In-Laws for Harassment

Gurgaon: A Gurgaon based businessman allegedly committed the suicide by hanging himself inside his shop. He was a 28-year-old garment trader, based out Ballabhgarh, Faridabad. He died on Sunday and also recorded a video, then posted on Instagram in which he accused his wife and her family.

When the incident came into light?

His name was Rahul, a resident of Sector 3 Housing Board Colony. Police said that he left home on Sunday morning after meeting his mother. After that he went to his garment shop. The shop was also opened about four months ago. Later, he found hanging inside the shop. The incident came into light around 11 am morning. Rahul's brother, Amit, saw the video that was uploaded on Instagram. He promptly acted on it and rushed to the shop with other family members. He found that the shop was locked from the inside. Then they broke the door, that was made by glass. But after entering inside, they found that Rahul had already died.

What was in the video?

Following the incident, police rushed the spot. They took the body into custody and sent it to BK Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. In the recorded video of his death, Rahul claimed that he had married Jyoti alias Preeti, two years ago, in a love marriage. He alleged that he had been subjected to continuous physical and mental harassment by his wife, mother-in-law Veena, father-in-law Bittu and sister-in-law Neetu.

What he alleged?

He added in the video that he was doing all the thing, like household chores, sweeping and washing utensils. Despite being this all, his wife was used to assault him repeatedly. Rahul also claimed that she insisted on living separately from his parents. She had also filed a false assault case against him two days earlier, leaving him under severe mental stress.

What was his final message?

Rahul asked for legal action against his wife and her family. As a final message, he said his property should be inherited by his mother, siblings and other family members. Based on a complaint lodged by Rahul's family and the contents of the video. Sector 3 police have registered a case against his wife, her parents and her sister Ajeet Singh, investigating officer of the case, said that a thorough probe has been launched to verify the claims made in the video.
