National News: Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has rolled out an innovative initiative, “Dialogue with Teachers,” at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Sangrur. The session aimed to create a platform where educators could freely share their opinions, challenges, and suggestions to improve teaching quality and strengthen infrastructure in government schools.
Highlighting the state’s progressive strides in education, Bains said Punjab’s government schools are now gaining international recognition. He announced a ₹400 crore allocation to upgrade computer labs and install interactive panels, assuring teachers that their issues will be addressed with practical solutions rather than cosmetic changes.
The minister revealed that a third group of teachers will soon travel to Singapore and Finland for advanced training, with selections being made strictly on merit. He also shared updates on lecturer promotions, the appointment of 400 new principals, and improvements to facilities like seating capacity and sanitation systems in schools.
Reaffirming that education is at the core of the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led administration, Bains cited Punjab’s strong performance in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024, crediting it to the state’s consistent policy push and reforms.
Sharing this year’s academic milestones, the minister proudly stated that 845 students from government schools cleared NEET, while 265 cracked JEE Mains, reflecting the commitment to nurturing talent capable of excelling in India’s toughest entrance exams.
Bains also spoke about initiatives like ‘School of Eminence,’ ‘School of Happiness,’ and ‘School of Brilliance,’ designed to redefine learning experiences and raise the standard of education across government schools.
Calling the “Dialogue with Teachers” a path-breaking move, Bains said it represents a collaborative approach, where teachers’ inputs directly influence policies — paving the way for a modern, student-focused education system in Punjab.
