Don Haji Mastan’s Daughter Appeals to PM Modi, Alleges Forced Marriage and Repeated Rape

Mumbai: There was a time when people used to tremble on hearing the name of Haji Mastan in the streets of Mumbai. He had influence from smuggling to films. But today his daughter Haseen Mastan Mirza herself is begging for justice. In December 2025, an emotional video of her went viral, in which she is pleading with folded hands to PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The charges are serious—child marriage, repeated rape, attempted murder, and usurpation of property. It breaks my heart to hear this. Will the fight of so many years bear fruit now?

How painful is Haseen's story?

Haseen says that two years after her father's death (1994), in 1996, she was forcibly married to her maternal uncle's son at a minor age. That person had already had many marriages. Repeated rape, physical and mental torture, and attempted murder after marriage. Misuse of their identity to take possession of property. Tried suicide three times. Thrown out of the house, fighting alone. In an interview given to ANI, she said, "I was raped, attempted murder, child marriage, and property snatched." 

Why does Haseen want to stay away from Haji Mastan's legacy?

Haseen says again and again—this is her personal struggle, not her father's story. "My father did good things; because of him, I am alive today." She doesn't want people to associate her with her father's underworld background. The old reports (from 2016) also had the same allegations—mother Sona Mirza was accused of hiding her identity and arranging a marriage.

What was said in the appeal to Modi-Shah?

"I want justice; I want my identity back," she said, crying in the video. Praised the Triple Talaq law—"Relief to Muslim women." Demanded that laws should be made more strict in cases like rape and child marriage and immediate punishment should be given. "If laws are strict, criminals will be afraid." Have been making rounds of the court for years, but no relief.

The video went viral in December and was covered by several news channels. No reaction from Modi or Shah yet. Haseen is fighting alone—no home, no support.
