A massive fire broke out at the library of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce in Pitampura, Delhi, at around 7:30 AM, sending plumes of thick black smoke into the sky. The terrifying blaze, visible from several kilometers away, sparked panic among students, faculty, and nearby residents. The fire rapidly spread from the library to the upper floors, creating a horrifying scene. While no injuries were reported, the full extent of damage to the library's resources is yet to be determined as cooling efforts continue.

Swift Response by Fire Services

The Delhi Fire Service responded promptly, deploying 11 fire tenders to the site by 8:00 AM. After battling the fire for over two hours, firefighters successfully brought it under control by 9:40 AM, according to a Delhi Fire Service official. The operation required significant manpower due to the fire’s intensity and the risk of it spreading to adjacent buildings. Cooling operations are ongoing to prevent re-ignition, with teams working to secure the area. Local police cordoned off nearby roads to facilitate rescue efforts and ensure public safety.

Community in Shock

The incident left the Pitampura community shaken, with onlookers describing the scene as apocalyptic. Students expressed grief over the potential loss of valuable academic resources, including rare books and research materials housed in the library. College authorities have suspended classes temporarily and are
