New Delhi: Abhay Singh, who rose to fame during the Mahakumbh as the "IIT-wala Baba" (the IIT-graduate ascetic), has tied the knot. He has married an engineer from Karnataka. News of this marriage came to light when he arrived to visit his father. Abhay Singh, originally a native of Haryana, went viral on social media during the Mahakumbh after a video of him surfaced online. He was seen wandering the grounds dressed as an ascetic, claiming, "I am a graduate of IIT." This claim catapulted him into the spotlight, earning him the distinct identity of the "IIT-wala Baba." Now, he has married and embarked on a new chapter in his life.
Abhay Singh arrived in Jhajjar, Haryana, on Monday. However, this time he was not alone; his wife, Preetika, accompanied him. Abhay Singh explained that he had come to Jhajjar to visit his parents and other family members. Abhay Singh originally hails from Sasrauli village in Jhajjar. He arrived at the Jhajjar Tehsil complex along with his wife, Preetika. There, he spent some time in the chambers of his father—an advocate—where he also interacted with the media.
During this interaction, he remarked, "I used to sit in my father's chambers here in the past as well. While my true passion lay in spirituality, during my student days, I would often visit these chambers to observe how legal cases were prepared and handled."
Abhay Singh's father, Karan Singh, is a lawyer and has previously served as the President of the Jhajjar Bar Association. Abhay expressed, "It felt wonderful to visit my father's chambers today; I used to come here to study in the past as well. We got married on February 15th—the day of Mahashivratri—at the Aghinjar Mahadev Temple in Himachal Pradesh. Subsequently, we had a civil marriage ceremony on February 19th. Preetika hails from Bengaluru. It was actually my wife who brought me here today. We also needed to update the KYC details for our bank accounts. That is why we came here, and while we were at it, we sought our father's blessings as well."
Preetika remarked that Abhay possesses a very simple and humble nature. She described him as an extremely honest and genuine human being. "I am originally from Karnataka, and I met Abhay about a year ago," she said. "I am an engineering graduate." "Now, we will dedicate our efforts to furthering the cause of Sanatan. We intend to establish a 'Sanatan University.' Our objective will be to bring together spiritual gurus and seekers associated with spirituality under one roof. Today, we have come to Jhajjar to meet my in-laws and other family members." Abhay Singh revealed that he is currently working on the creation of 'Shri University.' This institution will integrate spiritual practice—encompassing various forms of *sadhana*—alongside conventional worldly knowledge. The focus here will be placed equally on both academic learning and spiritual discipline.
He emphasized that maintaining a detachment from worldly material pursuits is of paramount importance. Currently, he resides in Himachal Pradesh with his wife. "We are both working together towards a shared vision." Outside the chamber, a crowd gathered around Abhay Singh, eager to take selfies with him. Many people also took the opportunity to reminisce about old times shared with him. Meanwhile, ever since the news of "IIT Baba's" marriage surfaced, it has become a subject of intense discussion across social media platforms. However, no reaction regarding their son's marriage has yet been issued by Abhay Singh's family members.
