New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued today's weather forecast for many parts of the country. According to the department, there may be heavy rain at some places in Arunachal Pradesh. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds in many states of Northeast and South India. In the next few hours, rain can be seen in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
There is a possibility of heavy rain at different places in Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from this, there may be rain at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Rain is also expected in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Andaman-Nicobar Islands. There is a possibility of thunderstorms in Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura regions of the Northeast. Due to heavy rains in the hilly areas, there may be a risk of landslides at some places.
Strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour may occur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal along with thunderstorms. Thunderstorms with gusty winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are also expected in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep. Strong surface winds may also occur in some areas of Andhra Pradesh. In such a situation, people living in open areas and around weak structures may need to be careful.
According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall activities may increase in South India in the coming days. There is a possibility of good rain at many places in Kerala and Mahe between 2 and 6 October. The rainy season may continue in coastal Karnataka from October 3 to 6. Between October 4 and 6, heavy rains may occur at some places in Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
There is no possibility of rain in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi today. However, rainfall activities may increase in these areas from October 6. Rain is likely to start in Uttarakhand from October 5 and many areas may receive good rain on October 7. Rain is also expected in Himachal Pradesh between October 5 and 8.
The south-west monsoon is now withdrawing from many parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, during the next 24 hours, monsoon may further withdraw from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and the rest of Uttarakhand. During this period, the weather may remain dry in some states, while many parts of South and North-East India may see rain, thunderstorms and strong winds.
