IMD Weather Alert: 60 Kmph Winds and Heavy Rain to Lash These States, Stay Alert

New Delhi: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for more than half the states of the country from Monday evening. IMD says that there may be strong wind, thunder and rain in many places in the next few hours. At some places the wind can blow at a speed of 40 to 60 km. Therefore, be a little careful in the areas with orange alert.

In which states is there an orange alert?

The maximum warning is for Tamil Nadu. 9 districts including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Madurai, Tiruvallur, Virudhunagar are in Orange Zone. Heavy rain is also expected in Chittoor-Tirupati in Andhra. The weather may worsen in 11 districts of Odisha like Cuttack, Puri, Bhubaneswar, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj. The name of South 24 Parganas in West Bengal is also in the list.

What is the condition of Gujarat and Central India?

In Gujarat, clouds will thunder and strong wind will blow in Amreli, Banaskantha, Bhavnagar, Sabarkantha. The weather may change suddenly in 11 districts including Balodabazar, Jashpur, Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh and Gwalior, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Singrauli in MP. If you are in these areas, keep an umbrella and raincoat with you.

Where will it rain in Rajasthan-UP?

It may rain with dust storms in Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota, Ajmer, Sikar of Rajasthan. In UP, 15 districts including Bareilly, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Shahjahanpur, Hathras are on alert. The weather here may worsen by evening.

Why is the danger more in the mountains?

There will be rain with thunderstorms in Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi of Uttarakhand and Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur of Himachal. There is a fear of landslides and road closure in the mountains. IMD has specifically said not to go under trees and near old buildings.

Why did the weather suddenly deteriorate?

A low-pressure system is forming over MP-Chhattisgarh which has now reached North MP. Besides, the monsoon trough line is active from Jaisalmer to the Bay of Bengal. A cyclone has also formed in Maharashtra and Bay of Bengal. Due to all these reasons, moisture is coming across the country.

Will rainfall increase again after August 13?

According to IMD, another low pressure may form in the Bay of Bengal around August 13. Meaning the rain will not stop now. Heavy showers may be seen intermittently for the next 4-5 days.

Where will be the heaviest rainfall in the next 24 hours?

The heaviest rainfall will be in MP. There are chances of good rain in the coastal areas of Himachal, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Kerala and Karnataka. There may be light to moderate rain in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Telangana, Tamil Nadu.
