The Indian Defence Forces have conducted a series of focused strikes in Operation Sindoor, targeting nine points in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Ministry of Defence confirmed the attacks, referring to them as a "focused, measured and non-escalatory" reaction to the latest attack in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pahalgam attack on April 22 was one of the most lethal attacks on civilians in India after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Terrorists brutally murdered 26 civilians, predominantly Hindu tourists, and one Nepali tourist and one local Kashmiri pony rider. The Resistance Front (TRF), a splinter group of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), took responsibility for the attack.
As a countermeasure to India's actions, Pakistan initiated an unprovoked drone and artillery strike on Indian border states of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. India countered immediately by intercepting the ammunition and imposing sensitive areas under blackout for security reasons.
The Indian Army went on social media and posted: "Justice is served. Jai Hind!" Earlier, the Army had tweeted: Ready to strike, trained to win.
