National News: India also reiterated that it had partially suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. According to the government, as long as Pakistan continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism, India is under no obligation to uphold the provisions of the treaty.
The statement further said, “Pakistan has a long-standing policy of fostering terrorism, and when questioned by the global community, it seeks to portray itself as a victim by exploiting international mechanisms. The formation of this tribunal is a continuation of that same deceptive strategy.”
India accused Pakistan of consistently misusing international forums and treaties to deflect accountability for its failure to curb terrorism. The government declared, “This attempt is not only a disruption to India's developmental projects but also a deliberate obstruction to our sovereignty, national security, and progress.”
In an unequivocal tone, India affirmed that it will not tolerate external interference in matters related to its water resources, power infrastructure, or sovereign rights. The government emphasized, “We will not succumb to any international pressure regarding our developmental agenda. Safeguarding national interests and accelerating progress remains our utmost priority.”
India has urged the global community to recognize and reject Pakistan’s misleading and deceptive tactics and to unite in the global fight against terrorism. The statement read, “Pakistan’s conduct is in clear violation of international norms, diplomatic decorum, and mutual trust.”
An Arbitration Tribunal, often referred to as a Mediation Council, is a panel of independent arbitrators formed to settle disputes between parties—typically states—through a neutral process. However, India has maintained that the Indus Waters Treaty is a bilateral agreement between India and Pakistan, and any disputes arising from it must be resolved through direct dialogue, without third-party involvement.
India has once again sent a resolute message to Pakistan: Terrorism and development cannot coexist. Any attempt to undermine Indian infrastructure projects under the pretext of the Indus Waters Treaty will be firmly rejected and challenged at every level. Going forward, India is committed to pursuing a strong and decisive policy to defend its national interests related to water, energy, and security.
