IPS Y Puran Kumar Death Case: In a major development in the IPS Y Puran Kumar Death Case, the Haryana government has announced the appointment of new Director General of Police (DGP).
Notably, Om Prakash has been appointed the state's new Director General of Police (DGP). The order was issued after DGP Shatrughan Kapoor, who was embroiled in the death case of ADGP Y Puran Kumar, was sent on leave. The order was issued by the government last night.
According to information, Om Prakash Singh has previously served as Managing Director of the Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Panchkula, Director of FSL Madhuban, and Director General of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSBNCB).
Singh is known for his professional skills, discipline, and administrative efficiency. The Governor's order stated that this decision was taken during the leave period of former DGP Shatrughan Singh Kapoor (IPS 1990) to avoid any disruption in the official work.
Notably, Om Prakash Singh, the new acting DGP of Haryana Police, will retire on December 31, 2025. It is worthy to be mentioned here that Om Prakash Singh is the brother-in-law of the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He is from Jamui, Bihar.
