National New: India's Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar recently suddenly resigned from his post. In his letter to President Draupadi Murmu, he said that he has taken this decision to prioritize his health and follow medical advice. He said in his resignation letter, "To prioritize health care and follow the advice of doctors, I resign from the post of Vice President with immediate effect, under Article 67 (A) of the Constitution."

74-year-old Dhankhar took over as vice president in August 2022. His sudden move in less than two years has become a topic of discussion in political circles.

Jagdeep Dhankhar's office sealed

Just two days after his resignation, on Wednesday, he was ordered to vacate his official residence. His vice president's office was sealed, and his social media team was disbanded. The entire process was done very quickly, leaving political analysts wondering if it was limited to health reasons alone or if there was something more behind it.

Speculations intensify in political circles

Dhankhar's resignation has come at a time when the monsoon session of Parliament has begun. In such a situation, opposition parties have raised questions about his resignation. Many leaders also said that both the timing and process of this resignation are unusual. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot called it a 'result of political pressure.'

Vacancy Triggers New VP Election

Dhankhar's tenure as vice president was very active. He openly expressed his views on many constitutional issues, especially the balance between the judiciary and the legislature. While being the Vice President, he served as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and conducted discussions on many important bills. After Dhankhar's resignation, the post of vice president has become vacant. Now, according to the Constitution, the process of election of the new vice president will be started. Till then, the work of the Rajya Sabha will be conducted by the Deputy Chairman.
