New Delhi: There is significant and essential news for devotees planning to undertake the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in 2026. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has announced the names of the fortunate devotees selected for this year's pilgrimage through a computer-generated draw of lots. To compile the list of travelers this time, a completely impartial and computer-generated random selection process was adopted, with special emphasis placed on ensuring equal participation (gender balance) between men and women.

How Many Devotees Have Been Selected?

This sacred Kailash Mansarovar Yatra for the year 2026 is scheduled to commence in June and will continue until August. A total of 1,000 travelers have been selected this year through the computer draw. These devotees will be dispatched in 20 separate batches, meaning each batch will consist of 50 travelers. Complete details regarding the routes and batch allocations have been uploaded to the official Yatra website.

No More Arduous Trekking Required Now?

Two routes have been designated for this year's pilgrimage: the first via Lipulekh Pass and the second via Nathu La Pass. The most welcome news for devotees is that both of these routes are now fully motorable (i.e., accessible by vehicles). This implies that travelers will have to undertake very minimal walking this time around and will be able to complete their journey with ease using vehicular transport.

Will Information Be Received via SMS and Email?

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, notifications via SMS and email have been sent to all devotees whose names appear on the selection list. Additionally, travelers can independently check their selection status by visiting the official Yatra website—https://kmy.gov.in—and logging in. Should travelers require any further information regarding their assigned route or batch, they may seek direct assistance by calling the helpline number: 011-23088214.

What Are Crucial Terms and Conditions for the Yatra?

The mere inclusion of your name in the selection list does not constitute a final confirmation that your pilgrimage is fully guaranteed. The Ministry has established certain strict regulations; failure to adhere to them may result in the cancellation of your selection:

Changing Routes and Batches Will Not Be Easy: The specific route and batch assigned to you through the computerized draw cannot be altered. In cases of extreme exigency, you may submit a formal request to change your batch, provided you furnish valid and compelling reasons. However, such a change will be permitted only if a vacancy exists in the alternative batch. The decision of the Ministry of External Affairs regarding this matter shall be final and binding.

Advance Payment Must Be Deposited Before the Deadline: As soon as your name appears on the list, you are required to deposit the booking amount (confirmation fee) into the designated bank account of KMVN or STDC prior to the specified deadline. Please note that this payment is strictly non-refundable; under no circumstances will it be reimbursed.

Failure to Pay Will Result in Removal from the List and Placement on the Waiting List: If you fail to deposit the payment by the stipulated date, your selection will be automatically cancelled. You will be removed from the main list and transferred to the waiting list, and your slot will be allotted to another passenger.

Online Re-confirmation is Mandatory Before Arriving in Delhi: Even after depositing the payment, one crucial step remains. Prior to your arrival in Delhi, you must visit the official pilgrimage website to digitally re-confirm your participation in the journey. Failure to complete this step may also result in the cancellation of your name from the list.
