The day commemorates the historic victory of the Indian armed forces when they drove out Pakistani intruders from the hills of Kargil. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on 26th July. 'Operation Vijay,' a grand success

In 1999, the Pakistani army had stealthily occupied the high hills of Kargil, threatening to cut off the vital communication link between Kashmir and Ladakh. But India immediately launched 'Operation Vijay' and defeated Pakistan with its bravery.
