Bengaluru: A change of Chief Minister is imminent in Karnataka. Tomorrow morning at 10:30 AM, Siddaramaiah will resign from the post of Chief Minister. Siddaramaiah has sought an appointment to meet with the Governor tomorrow. It is now certain that D.K. Shivakumar will become the CM. D.K. Shivakumar is set to take the oath as Karnataka's new Chief Minister on May 30.
Prior to this, Karnataka leaders held meetings throughout the day on Tuesday with the Congress High Command. According to sources, Siddaramaiah was asked to step down during these meetings. Reports have also emerged suggesting that Siddaramaiah's opinion was not sought during his meeting with Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile, the Congress party may appoint three Deputy Chief Ministers in Karnataka. According to sources, these three Deputy CMs could be selected from the Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and the Women's category. The individuals currently in the running as potential Deputy Chief Ministers - as identified by the Congress party - include Parameshwara or Priyank Kharge (representing the Dalit quota), Yatindra (from the OBC category), M.B. Patil or Eshwar Khandre (from the Lingayat community), and K.J. George, U.T. Khader, or Zameer (representing the minority community).
According to sources, Siddaramaiah was asked by the Congress leadership to step down. He was advised to consider the matter and convey his decision to K.C. Venugopal. Consequently, Siddaramaiah will tender his resignation tomorrow. According to the information received, Siddaramaiah has no interest in moving to the Rajya Sabha.
It is worth noting that a meeting was held on Tuesday in Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's office, located on the fifth floor. The meeting was attended by Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, K.C. Venugopal, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Siddaramaiah, and D.K. Shivakumar.
Karnataka's Minister for Minor Irrigation, N.S. Bosaraju, stated that the High Command would decide the course of action—whatever it may be and however it unfolds. Whether D.K. Shivakumar becomes the CM or if there is a reshuffle in the cabinet—all such decisions will be finalized by the High Command. Everything will be revealed tomorrow; however, I cannot say whether or not the auspicious time has been finalized.
