National News:A cloudburst hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district during heavy rainfall late Saturday night, leaving four people dead and six others injured. The sudden downpour damaged roads and cut off access to a remote village in the Rajbagh area of Jod Valley.
According to officials, a joint team of the police and SDRF reached the affected village despite damaged routes. Efforts are being made to restore connectivity and provide assistance to the injured.
Heavy rain also triggered landslides in villages, including Baggar, Changda, and Dilwan-Hutli. Fortunately, these incidents did not cause any major loss of life or property.
Due to continuous rainfall, water levels in most reservoirs are rising sharply. The Ujh river is flowing close to the danger mark. Authorities have asked residents to stay away from rivers and flooded areas for their own safety.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh confirmed the deaths after speaking with Kathua SSP Shobhit Saxena. He said parts of the railway track and national highway were damaged, and even the Kathua police station was affected. Singh added that the civil administration, Army, and paramilitary forces have been deployed to handle the situation. He expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
