A Spiritual Dawn in the Himalayas
The sacred doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened to devotees, marking the official beginning of the Char Dham Yatra. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Garhwal Himalayas, the temple was beautifully adorned with 108 quintals of fresh flowers, creating a breathtaking sight for pilgrims who had long awaited this moment.
Floral Grandeur Welcomes the Divine
The temple complex was transformed into a divine floral haven, featuring vibrant marigolds, roses, and chrysanthemums that blanketed the structure. This grand decoration was not just a visual delight but also a symbol of devotion and reverence for Lord Shiva, known here as Baba Kedarnath. The fragrant blooms added a festive and sacred atmosphere to the reopening ceremony.
Arrival of the Panchmukhi Doli
As per tradition, the Panchmukhi Doli (palanquin) of Baba Kedarnath began its journey from the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath on April 28, reaching Kedarnath after several days of devotional processions. The Doli's arrival marked a spiritually significant moment, as priests and pilgrims welcomed it with chants, prayers, and ceremonial rituals.
Tight Security and Pilgrim Arrangements
To manage the large influx of visitors and ensure a safe pilgrimage, the Uttarakhand government and temple authorities implemented extensive security measures. Medical services, registration counters, and food stalls were set up along the route to assist pilgrims. Authorities have also urged all travelers to register online before beginning their journey.
Temple to Remain Open Till October
The Kedarnath Temple will remain open to devotees until October 23, 2025, after which it will close for winter on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. During the winter months, worship of the deity continues at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath.
