National News: Saturday's sun rose as death for the Naxalites on the land of Jharkhand. In an encounter in the Ichwar forest of the Latehar district, security forces killed two dreaded Naxalite commanders of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP). This encounter is not only a strategic victory but also a big step towards destroying the empire of fear in the tribal belt of Jharkhand.
The killed Naxalites have been identified as Pappu Lohara (reward ₹ 10 lakh) and Prabhat Ganjhu (reward ₹ 5 lakh). Both these names had become synonymous with terror and ransom in the border valleys of Jharkhand and Bihar. Pappu's network was very active in extortion from mining mafia and contractors, while Prabhat was considered a military trainer of the organization.
The third Naxalite, who was injured and trapped, was caught alive with an INSAS rifle. During the encounter, the third Naxalite was injured in the firing of the security forces and was later arrested alive. An INSAS rifle, explosive material, and maps have been recovered from him. According to sources, the Naxalite who was caught was part of the strategic unit of JJMP, and many important clues have been found from him.
This entire operation was led by Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav. The local police, CRPF, and anti-Naxal squad, working on very accurate intelligence, surrounded the forest from all sides. The Naxalites did not get any chance to escape. This 'surround and finish' strategy made the operation decisive in minutes.
The villages located in the forests of Latehar were under the shadow of Naxal fear for decades. After this action, there is a festive atmosphere there. The villagers welcomed the police and CRPF personnel and distributed sweets. This was not just an encounter but a moment that reassured the people.
The Latehar operation has made it clear that the government's policy is no longer just talk but decisive action. The police are no longer just keeping vigil in Naxal-affected areas but are striking at the root of terror. This campaign is a historic milestone in the direction of making Jharkhand Naxal-free.
