Panna: A major accident took place in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district after an under-construction well collapsed in Beharpuwa village of Ajaigarh area. According to reports, the soil around the well suddenly caved in, trapping seven workers under the debris. Panic spread across the village soon after the incident, and local residents rushed to the spot to begin rescue efforts.
According to initial information, five people lost their lives in the tragic accident. Rescue teams have recovered two bodies so far, while efforts are underway to pull out the remaining three victims trapped under the debris. Villagers gathered at the site in large numbers as JCB machines were used continuously to clear the rubble. Locals also alleged that the district administration reached the accident site after a significant delay despite being informed earlier.
Reports suggest that construction work on the well was in progress when the loose soil suddenly collapsed, burying the workers underneath. The trapped individuals have been identified as Chunnu Yadav, Rampal Yadav, Rajumar Yadav, Ashish Yadav and Chunwad Pal. Two workers were rescued safely, while operations to recover the others continued for several hours.
As soon as information about the incident was received, teams from the administration and local police reached the location. Villagers, along with rescue personnel, started digging operations using JCB and L&T machines. Rescue teams have been continuously removing soil for hours in an attempt to recover those trapped inside.
A large number of villagers remain present at the accident site. Family members and locals are still hoping for the safe recovery of those buried under the debris. Officials stated that rescue and relief operations are being carried out on a war footing and every effort is being made to complete the operation safely.
