National News: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly retaliated against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on the allegations of election 'match fixing' in the state. Fadnavis accused Gandhi of distorting the facts and insulting the public's mandate. He said that "Those who have been denied by the public themselves are now denying the decision of the public." Describing these allegations of Rahul as an insult to the people of Maharashtra, he said that neither he nor the people of the state will ever forgive such claims.

Shinde-Nadda, EC also denied allegations

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BJP President JP Nadda and the Election Commission (ECI) have also dismissed Rahul Gandhi's allegations outright. In his article written in the Indian Express, Fadnavis said that Rahul Gandhi's article is only to spread confusion, which should not be taken seriously. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi is doing divisive politics and the Congress has already ignored the rules regarding the appointments of Election Commissioners.

'Fake voter' allegations refuted

Fadnavis also denied Rahul Gandhi's claim of 'fake voter,' saying that the increase in the number of young voters is a normal process and is in line with the previous trend. Giving data, he said that there are more than 26 lakh youth voters in the state. At the same time, he advised Rahul Gandhi to read a detailed letter from the Election Commission and clarified that there has been no unusual change in voter numbers in 2024.

He also said that the NDA benefited from increasing the voting percentage at the last moment, as the claims are incomplete and ridiculous. He told through examples that more polling in many places has also gone in favor of opposition candidates. Fadnavis also dismissed the allegations of hiding evidence and said that such claims harm the public's trust and are completely fruitless.

Shinde raised questions on Gandhi's visits

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also criticized Rahul Gandhi and said that his 'Bharat Adar Yatra' had passed through Maharashtra, but the public did not support him. He said that the Congress spread lies about reservation and change in the constitution during elections, but people did not come in these rumors.

JP Nadda's attack: 'A combination of lies and panic'

BJP President JP Nadda said in an X (formerly Twitter) post that Rahul Gandhi creates false stories after defeat. He said that instead of introspecting, Gandhi makes stories of conspiracy and defames institutions, which have no evidence of these lies.

Election Commission strict attitude

The Election Commission described Rahul Gandhi's allegations as baseless and an insult to the rule of law. The Commission said in a statement that elections in India are held according to law and are famous for their transparency and impartiality in the world.

The Commission clarified that government employees and authorized representatives of political parties and candidates participate in the elections. In such a situation, spreading confusion is not only an insult to the law but also makes the morale of thousands of employees who make the election process successful with full devotion. The Election Commission also added that it is ridiculous to discredit the Commission if the decision is not arbitrary and insult thousands of delegates appointed by political parties.
