A tragic road accident took place early Thursday morning on the Armori-Gadchiroli highway in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, claimed the lives of four young boys.
The victims, all between 14 and 16 years old, were taking a morning walk near Katli village when a fast-moving, unidentified truck hit them. The accident has left entire region in mourning. The boys who died were Tinku Namdev Bhoyar (14), Tanmay Balaji Mankar (16), Dushan Duryodhan Meshram (14), and Tushar Rajendra Marbhate (14). Two others, Kshitij Meshram and Aditya Kohpare, both 16, were badly injured.
Reports say that the boys were standing close to a bridge on the highway when the fast-moving truck, coming from Gadchiroli towards Armori, hit them. Two boys died right there, while two others passed away later while receiving medical help at the hospital. The two injured boys were first brought to the Gadchiroli district hospital for treatment. As their condition was very serious, they were later shifted by air to Nagpur for better treatment. The airlift is expected to take place within the next hour.
Chief Minister Fadnavis shared his deep sorrow about the accident. He said the government is with the families and will give them full support. This accident is very painful. I extend my sympathies to the families of the boys who lost their lives. Each family will receive Rs 4 lakh in financial help, and the government will cover all treatment costs for the injured,” said the CM. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and started a search to find the driver of the truck, who fled after the accident. The event has sparked anger in the area, with many people demanding stricter traffic rules and safety steps on highways, especially near villages and towns.
