A massive fire broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, engulfing several houses on Thursday, said the officials.
Briefing about the incident, Abdul Qayoom, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Doda said, “We received information around 4:30 in the morning that a few houses in the Bhaderwah area of Doda district had caught fire and firefighters were rushed to the spot.”
Upon receiving the information, five fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze was brought under control, officials added.
"As per the information received so far, eight houses were damaged in the fire. As per the initial investigation, we got to know that a short circuit was the cause of the fire," the SSP told news agency ANI.
The officials said that there were no immediate reports of any causalities or injuries in the fire.
Further probe is underway.
