Monsoon Fury: Floods, Landslides Hit Gujarat, J&K, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra Amid Heavy Rain

New Delhi: The arrival of the monsoon has brought torrential rains to various parts of the country. The situation is worst in Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, and Gujarat. Rivers and streams are overflowing, and water has entered people's homes. Roads are submerged, and rivers are flowing above the danger mark. In many places, the situation is so dire that people are forced to take boats to get to work.

What about Gujarat?

Heavy rains have also severely affected many parts of Gujarat. Navsari, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Valsad are the worst affected. Several areas in Navsari are flooded, with vehicles submerged. In such a situation, NDRF is running a large-scale rescue operation to safely evacuate people from the affected areas.

How is the weather in Uttarakhand?

In Uttarakhand, the monsoon is showing no signs of slowing down. Heavy rains have worsened the situation here as well. Due to heavy rainfall in the upper reaches, the water levels of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers have risen, reaching very close to the danger mark. The rising water levels have created flood-like conditions in the area, significantly disrupting people's daily routines.

What about Jammu and Kashmir?

The situation is also worsening in Jammu and Kashmir due to heavy rains. Authorities are already on alert. In Anantnag, the Jhelum River is rising due to continuous rainfall, prompting authorities to issue an alert in the area.

Heavy rains are lashing Reasi, forcing several gates of the Salal Dam to be opened. People have been advised to exercise caution.

Heavy rains began in Maharashtra with the arrival of the monsoon. Many areas have been submerged in the heavy rain. Due to rain, Pavana Dam has been filled to 95 per cent of its capacity.
