New Delhi: There is relief news for the people troubled by the scorching heat in many parts of the country. The south-west monsoon has once again gained momentum and is moving towards many states. IMD has predicted thunderstorms, rain and strong winds in 17 states in the next few days. Hail may also occur in some areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, South-West Monsoon has become active in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. Due to its effect, rain activities are going to intensify in eastern and north-eastern India.
There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in many areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya in the next 6-7 days. The Meteorological Department has advised the people of these areas to remain alert.
Rain will provide relief in many states, but a heatwave is expected in some parts of Telangana and Vidarbha for the next 2-3 days. The temperature may remain above normal in these areas.
The weather of Delhi has become pleasant after the recent rains. According to IMD, there may be dust storms and light rain between June 16 and 18. During this period the wind can blow up to 60 km/hour. After June 16, chances of rain are less, but strong winds will continue.
The effect of monsoon is going to increase in North and East Bihar. There may be heavy rain in Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Supaul and Bhagalpur. At some places, strong winds can blow at a speed of 50-60 km/hour.
There is an alert for severe thunderstorms and rain in western Rajasthan on June 16. Wind speed can be 60-70 km/hr, at some places gusts can reach 80 km/hr. Rain and storm activities will intensify between June 19 and 21.
The rainy season is expected to continue in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from June 16 to 21. There may be thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in some areas on June 18-19. Rain activities will also increase in Jammu and Kashmir from June 16.
