New Delhi: Monsoon has gained momentum in most parts of the country. Continuous rain continues from North India to Western and North-Eastern states. In some places people have got relief from the heat and in some places heavy rains have made everyday life difficult. In many cities, roads have been submerged in water, traffic has been affected and the water level of rivers is rising rapidly. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in many states in the coming days.

Which states are likely to receive the most rain?

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, monsoon will remain fully active for the next few days. Heavy rain may occur in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, coastal areas of Karnataka and sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

How has the weather changed in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh?

It has been raining continuously in many parts of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh since night. This has definitely provided relief to the people from the humidity and heat, but due to waterlogging in many areas, those going to office in the morning had to face problems. Traffic speed also remained slow on many roads.

Why has rain become a big challenge in Maharashtra?

Continuous rains in Maharashtra have made the situation difficult. Many districts including Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and Nashik have been flooded. The administration has become alert due to the rise in the water level of the Godavari River in Nashik.

The impact of rain was also seen on Mumbai's local train services. At the same time, operation of some long-distance trains going to Gujarat was also affected. Incidents of landslides and waterlogging have been reported in many areas.

An example of humanity was also seen from a village in Palghar district. Here the villagers made the door of the house a temporary stretcher and took a pregnant woman to the hospital after crossing the water-filled path.

Why have people's problems increased after the rain?

The temperature has dropped due to rain, but waterlogging in cities has increased the problems of the people. Roads have broken down at many places, vehicles are getting stuck in potholes and long traffic jams are occurring. Office going people had to remain stranded on the roads for hours.
