National News: Scientists have made a shocking revelation about the world's highest mountain peak, Mount Everest. Yes, the height of Everest is gradually increasing every year. This fact is as shocking as it is scientifically proven. Much research and data have proved that the height of Mount Everest is increasing by a few centimeters every year. Every year lakhs of mountaineers dream of conquering Mount Everest.
But now the peak on which people risk their lives to climb is gradually becoming higher and higher. The reason for this is hidden in the movements going on beneath the surface of the earth, which has become a major subject of research for scientists and geologists.
The most important reason for the increase in the height of Mount Everest is the movement of tectonic plates inside the earth. According to scientists, the surface of the earth is not like a solid layer, but it is divided into many huge tectonic plates, which keep moving continuously.
The Himalayan mountain range, of which Everest is a part, is formed by the mutual pressure of the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate. These two plates are still slowly moving towards each other, due to which the height of the Himalayas and especially Mount Everest is increasing year after year.
The second major reason for the change in the height of Mount Everest is earthquakes. Especially in the Himalayan region and Himachal Pradesh, earthquakes that occur from time to time affect the structure of these mountains. During an earthquake, the pressure between the plates increases, which can cause a slight change in the height of the mountains. Experts believe that after an earthquake, there is a slight upheaval in the mountain structure, which also affects the height of Mount Everest.
Scientists are constantly taking the help of GPS technology and satellite images to monitor the height of Mount Everest. In the year 2020, Nepal and China together declared the new height of Everest as 8,848.86 meters, which was more than the earlier figures. This change once again proves the scientists' estimate that Mount Everest is indeed getting higher every year.
