New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested seven foreign nationals, exposing a large international network. These include six Ukrainian citizens and one American. The agency alleges that these people were involved in a conspiracy to provide training, weapons and drone technology to armed groups operating in Myanmar by making transit routes to the northeastern states of India. In the initial investigation, it is being considered as a case related to cross-border terrorist activities.

What is the whole matter?

According to the investigating agency, all these foreign nationals had come to India on valid visas, but after this they entered the restricted area like Mizoram without necessary permission. From here these people crossed the Myanmar border illegally and established contact with the ethnic armed groups operating there. It is alleged that some of these groups also have connections to banned extremist organizations in India.

How was the conspiracy hatched?

According to the FIR, this network used the India-Myanmar border in a planned manner. First these people reached India at different times, then went to Mizoram via Assam and from there crossed the border and participated in training activities. The agency claims that this was not an ordinary visit but an organized operation that included military training and strategic cooperation.

What is the connection between drones and arms supply?

Investigation has also revealed that the accused ordered drones from Europe, which were delivered to Myanmar via India. These drones were being used in training camps to teach modern warfare techniques. It is said to include training like drone operation, assembly and anti-drone technology.

What action is being taken now?

NIA caught all of them from different places. The American citizen was arrested at Kolkata Airport while the Ukrainian citizens were arrested in Delhi and Lucknow. After this, the special court of Delhi has sent all the accused to NIA custody for 11 days so that they can be interrogated thoroughly.

Is it a big international network?

Sources believe that this matter is not limited to only seven people. Investigation has indicated that more foreign nationals related to this had come to India and kept reaching Myanmar through a fixed route. The agencies are now busy unraveling the layers of this entire network so that it can be found out which international interests and organizations are behind it.
