Patna: Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, entered active politics by taking membership of Janata Dal (United) on Sunday (8 March 2026). He took membership of the party in a program organized at JDU office in Patna. During this, many senior leaders including State President Umesh Kushwaha, Union Minister Lalan Singh, Sanjay Jha, Bijendra Yadav and Vijay Chaudhary were present. After taking membership, Nishant Kumar expressed gratitude to all the leaders and workers.
After joining JDU, Nishant Kumar said that he will try to work for the party as an active member. He said, "I have come to the JDU office and joined the party here. My father has decided to go to Rajya Sabha, it is his personal decision and I respect it." He said that he will try to live up to the trust that the party and the public have reposed in him.
In his address, Nishant Kumar said that he will try to convey to the people the work that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has done for the development of Bihar in the last twenty years. He said that not only Bihar but the entire country is proud of his father's work and he will try to carry forward the same legacy.
A large number of party workers were present in the program organized at JDU office. During membership induction, workers were seen raising slogans of 'Nishant Kumar Zindabad'. However, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was not present in this program.
After Nishant Kumar's entry into politics, new discussions have started in the politics of Bihar. Meanwhile, RCP Singh, who was formerly close to Nitish Kumar, also wished him good luck on social media for joining active politics.
It is being told that a day before joining JDU, Nishant Kumar had held a meeting with senior leaders and young MLAs at the residence of the party's working president. In this meeting, strategies to strengthen the organization and the future were discussed.
