National News: On Monday Parliament held a long discussion on Operation Sindoor, and the debate will continue today as well. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are scheduled to spend 16 hours each discussing the matter. Strong arguments were exchanged between the ruling party and the opposition during Monday's session.
Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to speak in the Lok Sabha today between 12 PM and 1 PM. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to deliver the concluding speech later in.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier praised Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for their speeches in the Lok Sabha. He said they clearly explained the success of Operation Sindoor and India’s growing international influence.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Rajnath Singh gave an excellent speech, highlighting the bravery of our armed forces and the success of India’s security system in Operation Sindoor.”
Speaking about Jaishankar’s address, he said, “Dr. S. Jaishankar’s speech was outstanding. He showed how the world understood India’s clear stand against terrorism through Operation Sindoor.”
In Parliament, Foreign Minister Jaishankar spoke about several government actions—from Security Cabinet meetings to declaring Pakistani embassy members as persona non grata. He said that India gave clear briefings to foreign embassies and the media, explaining that the country has the right to protect its citizens.
He added, “Pakistan is a member of the UN Security Council, but India is not. Still, we informed the global community about Pakistan’s actions. When our red line was crossed, we had to respond strongly. We exposed Pakistan’s real face. Only three out of the 193 UN member countries—including Pakistan—opposed Operation Sindoor".
During the discussion, BJP MP Anurag Thakur strongly criticized Congress leaders. He said, “Instead of focusing on Operation Sindoor, Congress leaders seem more interested in proving who among them is Pakistan’s best friend. A former Home Minister recently said in an interview, If there is no clear proof, how can we say that the terrorists came from Pakistan?”
He added, “Sometimes they talk about Hindu terrorism, and other times they defend Pakistan. Some Congress leaders appear to speak more in favor of Pakistan than India. The way they talk, it feels like the party is turning into the Islamabad National Congress. The Pakistani army and government are using them for their own agenda.”
AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi also voiced his concerns during the Parliament session. He said, “Do you think your conscience allows you to tell the families of those killed in Baisaran to go and enjoy an India-Pakistan cricket match? You say that blood and water can’t flow together. Then how can you play cricket with Pakistan?”
He continued, “Can this government tell the families of the 25 victims that revenge has been taken through Operation Sindoor, and now it’s okay to watch a match? This is deeply disappointing. Who attacked Pahalgam? Despite having 7.5 lakh soldiers and paramilitary forces, how did four terrorists enter and kill our people? Who will be held responsible?”
