National New: The uproar continues on Wednesday, the third day of the monsoon session of Parliament. Opposition parties protested in the House against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. Meanwhile, Pappu Yadav, MP from Purnia, Bihar, made serious allegations regarding the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list and called it a conspiracy of the Election Commission. He said that under the pretext of SIR, the right to vote of the poor and deprived is being snatched away.
MP Pappu Yadav has termed the Election Commission's voter list verification process as a planned move against the poor, Dalits and underprivileged sections. The MP claims that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are not visiting many villages, especially in flood-affected areas, and the verification process is not transparent. Terming it an attack on democracy, he said that this entire process is an attempt to deprive the poor of their right to vote.
Pappu Yadav said that BJP is removing names from the voter list in those areas where it is less likely to get votes, so that the opposition is weakened. This process is against the Constitution and the government is not ready to answer openly on SIR. He has talked about conducting a bandh and a massive campaign all over India, and has also called upon the opposition parties to unite and oppose this.
He said that where did 51 lakh voters come from and what is the basis of removing names in such a large number? Pappu Yadav claims that BJP is giving Booth Level Officer (BLO) the right to remove names arbitrarily, that too without checking documents like Aadhar or Ration Card.
The MP has also alleged that the survey conducted by the BJP for the elections has been given to the BLO. They check the voter list and people are being deleted from the list. SIR is a process of taking away the rights of the people of Bihar. The right to vote of the poor is being taken away. He said that he does not trust the lower courts. He has faith in the Supreme Court that it will take strict action in this matter.
