Dark Shadows of Partition: PM Modi Asks Why the Bloody Border of 1947 Still Haunts India

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day: India is celebrating 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' today, which is dedicated to the memory of the suffering and sacrifices suffered by millions of people during the partition of the country in 1947. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on this occasion that this is a very sad chapter in history, when millions of people were forced to leave their homes and countless people lost their lives in communal violence. He said that this day is also to salute the courage and spirit of those who started life afresh even after unimaginable loss.

Modi called upon the people to strengthen harmony and unity in the country. He said that many affected people have achieved remarkable achievements despite difficulties, which is an inspiration for the nation.

Amit Shah made allegations against Congress

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also called this day unforgettable for the country. He said that due to partition, violence, exploitation, and atrocities increased, and lakhs of people were displaced. Shah accused the Congress and said that its decision divided the country and hurt the pride of Mother India. He paid tribute to all those killed in the partition and said that the country will never forget this pain.

J.P. Nadda gave the message of national unity

BJP President and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda gave a message of national unity on this occasion. He said that that dark day of 1947 reminds us how millions of citizens suffered migration, inhuman torture, and loss of their homes and property. Nadda said that the tradition of celebrating this day under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is an important step in nation building. He appealed to all citizens to unite and take a pledge to fight against anti-national forces.

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is observed every year on 14 August. It was announced by Prime Minister Modi in 2021 to remember the struggles and sacrifices of those displaced and killed during the Partition. India's partition took place simultaneously with independence from British rule in 1947, resulting in the creation of Pakistan as a Muslim country. The Partition affected nearly 20 million people, of whom millions had to leave their ancestral places and become refugees, while millions were killed in communal violence.
