National News: Digital payment in the country may have made the life of the common man easier, but now this facility is becoming headache. The petrol pump owners of Maharashtra have announced not to take payment through UPI, debit cards and other digital mediums from May 10. He says that due to the increasing cyber fraud, it has become a compulsion to take this step.
Petrol pump owners and organizations say that cyber fraud incidents are increasing every day. The hackers make payment by misusing a customer's card or net banking details, and then the real customer files a complaint of cancellation of transactions. This causes double damage to the petrol pump owners - neither gets money, nor oil comes back.
This decision is starting from Maharashtra. Petrol pump owners from Vidarbha, Nashik, Pune and other regions are involved in this decision. Vijay Thackeray, president of the Nashik Petrol Pump Dealers Association, said that earlier the loss of small amount was ignored, but now such incidents have increased, which have blocked the bank accounts of many petrol pump owners.
The Federation of All Maharashtra Petroleum Dealers Association has clearly stated that digital payments will remain closed until the government takes any concrete steps and controls the risk of digital payment. Association president Amit Gupta said that he has also informed the Central Government in this regard and demanded action.
This decision will directly affect millions of people who use UPI or card for petrol or diesel daily. Now they have to take cash, otherwise there may be inconvenience at the petrol pump. This will be a major change for office -going, cab driver, delivery boys and common citizens.
This decision also raises a serious question - when digital payment is not safe even at big centers like petrol pumps, how will small shopkeepers or street vendors be safe? This matter is also a warning for the government's Digital India campaign.
From May 10, UPI and card will not be able to pay at petrol pumps in Maharashtra. Till the government and cyber agencies do not find a permanent solution, cash transactions will be the only option. This step can also spread to other states in the coming days if the solution is not found soon.
