New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a crucial meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on Thursday at 'Seva Teerth' in the national capital. During this meeting, several major government ministries presented updates on their respective progress and operations. These included key ministries such as Agriculture, Forestry, Labor, Road Transport, Corporate Affairs, External Affairs, Commerce, and Energy.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi conveyed a clear message to the ministers: speed and efficiency are absolutely essential in the government's work. He emphasized that files must be processed swiftly without any unnecessary delays, and that the focus should be on accomplishing more work in less time. Furthermore, he stressed the need to further simplify governance and to prioritize reforms.
In his address, the Prime Minister reiterated the objective of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' (Developed India 2047), stating that it is not merely a slogan but a firm commitment of the government. He clarified that to transform the country into a developed nation by 2047, every ministry must function with complete responsibility and earnestness. The meeting also included discussions regarding those ministries whose performance had been relatively lackluster. Such ministries were directed to address their shortcomings and take steps to improve their operational efficiency.
The Council of Ministers also congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his recently concluded successful tour of five nations. During this session, the External Affairs Minister briefed the ministers on the outcomes and significance of this tour. The tour covered the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy.
The Prime Minister also directed the ministers to reach out to the public and disseminate information regarding the government's work and achievements over the past 12 years. According to sources, this meeting is also being viewed as a mid-term review of the government's performance, during which future strategies were deliberated upon.
This meeting takes place at a time when global concerns regarding energy security are on the rise. Fluctuations in oil prices—driven by ongoing tensions in West Asia and the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz—are being witnessed, impacting several nations, including India.
