Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two major projects from Rohini — the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway. Together costing nearly Rs 11,000 crore, these projects are designed to cut travel time to the airport to just 20 minutes.
On Sunday morning, before the inauguration of the highway projects, PM Modi interacted with construction workers who contributed to the Delhi section of the Dwarka Motorway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). These projects have been developed as part of the government’s plan to decongest the capital. Their main goal is to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and ease traffic across Delhi and nearby areas. Both projects reflect Prime Minister Modi’s vision of building world-class infrastructure that makes daily life easier and ensures smoother transport.
PM Modi will also launch the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan part of UER-II, together with new spurs connecting Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. Out of the total length, 5.9 km runs from Shiv Murti crossing to the Road Under Bridge at Dwarka Sector-21, while 4.2 km goes from Sector-21 to the Delhi-Haryana border. It will also have a direct link to the Urban Extension Road-II. Earlier in March 2024, the Haryana section of this motorway, stretching 19 km, had already been inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister will also open the UER-II section between Alipur and Dichaon Kalan, along with new connections to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. This section has been developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5,580 crore. It is expected to ease pressure on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads, as well as crowded junctions like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. The new connections will directly link Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, help industries with better connectivity, reduce inner-city traffic, and make goods transport faster in the National Capital Region.
