PM Modi invited to Egypt's Gaza peace meet: In a significant move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited by the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to grace the upcoming Gaza Peace Summit, scheduled to be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
It is worthy to me mentioned here that the Prime Minister Modi will not be attending the meet in person. Meanwhile, the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs has stated that Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh will represent India.
The upcoming summit, co-chaired by former US President Donald Trump and President El-Sisi, will have top leaders from more than 20 countries, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Snchez, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The main goal of the upcoming summit is ending the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, and to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East. Notably, the meeting has been scheduled just after the Israel’s ceasefire and partial troop withdrawal.
The Egyptian presidency said, “The summit aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip, enhance efforts to bring peace and stability to the region, and usher in a new phase of security."
It is to be noted here that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was implemented on Friday, after three days of negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh mediated by the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
