New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 25 consecutive years as the head of the government. On 7 October 2001, he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time. With this, his journey of governance which started from Gujarat reached an important milestone of 25 years on Wednesday. Many programmes are being organised by the Central Government and BJP regarding the 25 years of leadership of the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister started this special occasion with prayers at Shri Vinayak Temple in Delhi. He took blessings from Lord Ganesha. To mark this milestone in the public life of the prime minister, BJP and the government have planned programmes related to service and public participation across the country.
Narendra Modi took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on 7 October 2001. At that time the state was going through earthquake, drought and other challenges. After this he worked as Chief Minister of Gujarat for about 12 years. In 2013, BJP made him its prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and in 2014, he was sworn in as the prime minister of the country for the first time.
The Union Cabinet on October 6 passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 years of continuous leadership. The resolution mentioned his rule and various policies and schemes from Gujarat to the Centre. The government described this as an important milestone in his continuous leadership. In view of the 25 years of leadership of the Prime Minister, programmes related to service and public participation are being organised in different parts of the country. 'Seva Jyoti' programme is also being organised in Delhi. In view of the programmes, changes and restrictions have also been imposed on the traffic system on some major routes in the capital.
Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014 after starting as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. After this, the government was formed under his leadership in the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections also. This occasion of completion of 25 years as the head of the government in 2026 is an important milestone in his long political and administrative journey.
