PM Narendra Modi Address to Nation: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation announced that GST bachat utsav will commence from tomorrow. He commenced his speech by extending warm wishes of Navratri festival, which will start from September 22.
Ahead of PM Modi's address, a lot speculations over the subject of his address were made across the nation. The topic of the discussion were not made official in connection with the topic of his address. Notably, his address coincided with the Navratri festival and recent announcement in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure.
Addressing the nation, PM Modi said "When you gave us the opportunity in 2014, we made GST our priority in the public interest and in the national interest. We discussed with every stakeholder. We addressed every state's doubts and found solutions to every question. By taking all states on board, India's largest tax reform became possible. It was the result of the efforts of the central and state governments that the country was freed from the web of dozens of taxes, and a uniform system was established for the entire country. The dream of 'One Nation, One Tax' was realised.
Pm Modi stated that GST realised the ‘one nation-one tax’ dream. He also highlighted how web of taxes/tolls had created hardships for business, consumers.
Addressing the nation, PM Modi stated, "Next-gen GST reforms will accelerate India's growth story." He also said, "Next generation GST reforms will be implemented from tomorrow."
During his address, PM Narendra Modi announced 'GST Utsav' from tomorrow. Further talking about the GST rates PM stated that only having 5% and 18% slabs will help common goods get cheaper while mentioning that GST has been made a priority for the benefit of public.
