New Delhi: Amidst the continuously increasing tension in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to hold an important meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Saturday. According to sources, in this meeting the current situation of the area will be reviewed in detail and it will also be seen what preparations have been made by various ministries so far.

Why is this meeting so important?

Tension in West Asia can directly impact India's energy security, trade and supply chain. India imports a major part of its oil and gas needs from there. In such a situation, any obstruction can increase inflation and put a burden on the pockets of the common man. The government wants to be prepared before any possible crisis, hence constant reviews are being done at the highest level.

Which areas have the greatest focus?

The government is especially eyeing sectors like energy, agriculture, fertilizers, aviation, shipping and logistics. Any obstruction in these can directly reach the common man. Therefore, their supply chain is being constantly monitored to keep it strong and deal with any problems.

What is the status of energy and essential resources?

The government is already busy ensuring the supply of LNG, LPG and petroleum products. Emphasis is being laid on diversifying import sources. Keeping in mind the upcoming Kharif season, the availability of fertilizers is also being checked. There is sufficient stock of coal, which is enough for electricity generation.

What precautions are being taken regarding rumors?

The government does not want the situation to worsen by spreading rumours. Therefore, instructions have been given to the concerned departments to provide correct and accurate information to the people from time to time. Special attention is paid to maintaining transparency so that unnecessary panic does not spread among the people.

Is monitoring being done at other levels also?

Last month, a group was formed led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, which also includes Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. This group is continuously monitoring the situation and giving necessary suggestions.

What are the further indications?

The government is currently keeping a close eye on the situation. If needed, additional steps will be taken immediately. In the coming days, a new strategy can also be prepared according to the situation so that any economic or energy crisis can be avoided.

Overall, the objective of the government is very clear – the impact of global tension should be minimal within the country and there should be no burden on the lives of common citizens. This meeting of the prime minister is another strong step in this direction.
