National News: Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government is seriously working for the welfare of the weaker sections of society. She said that the progress of any society depends on how safe and empowered its elderly, women, and children are.

Timely Implementation of Welfare Schemes is Essential

During a review meeting with departmental officials at Kisan Bhawan, Chandigarh, the minister directed that all welfare schemes must reach the needy with transparency and timeliness. She emphasized that departmental negligence will not be tolerated, and it is mandatory that the benefits of these schemes reach the rightful beneficiaries.

Emphasis on Monitoring and Upgradation of Anganwadi Centers

In the meeting, topics such as the status of Anganwadi centers, the Nutrition Tracker App, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, and the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign were discussed. The minister gave clear instructions to take immediate action against Anganwadi centers that do not open regularly. She also ordered the prompt completion of unfinished buildings and toilets.

Child Begging Liberation Campaign Gets Mission Mode Push

Dr. Kaur stressed the need for personal leadership in the child begging liberation and rehabilitation campaign under Mission Vatsalya. While reviewing the functioning of specialized adoption agencies operating in the state, she also sought detailed information on the adoption process.

Recognition for Good Officers, Action Against Negligent Ones

The minister instructed that officers who perform their duties excellently should be honored with appreciation letters to inspire others. She also emphasized that disciplinary action must be taken against officials whose performance is unsatisfactory, to ensure effective implementation of government schemes.
