Operation Jeevanjyot: Punjab Rescues 367 Kids from Streets, Admits Them in Schools

Punjab News: The Punjab government's 'Operation Jeevanjyot' has changed the lives of children begging on the streets. So far 367 children have been rescued from areas like railway stations, markets, and temples. These children who once used to roam around with bowls are now going to school holding books. The government has not only rescued them but has also worried about their future.

Those whose relatives could not be found have been kept safe in Balgrih. Some children are also being given pensions, insurance, and financial assistance of ₹4000 per month. This is not just a scheme; it is a hope that now every child will study and smile.

1. No begging; now send them to school

The Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab started 'Operation Jeevanjyot' in September 2024. So far, 367 children have been saved from begging through this campaign. These children are now safe in school or a children's home. Earlier these children were seen at railway stations, temples, and markets. Now the government has given them education and security.

2. Every child should get respect

Out of these, 183 children were enrolled in schools. 13 small children have been included in Anganwadi centers. Those whose families are poor are being given help of ₹4000. Some children have also gotten the benefit of government pension and insurance. These children are now moving towards a better life.

3. Monitoring of children is also necessary

After saving them, the government is also keeping a constant eye on these children. Every three months, it is checked whether they are going to school or not. If any child is seen on the streets again, immediate action is taken. This shows that the government is not just pretending. It is trying to bring about permanent change.

4. DNA will reveal the truth

Now the government has started DNA testing of adults found with children. This will reveal whether the child is theirs or not. Recently, 21 children were rescued by conducting raids in many districts of Punjab. In Bathinda, 20 children are being identified through DNA. This will curb fake parents.

5. The law has also become strict

If a person forces a child to beg, he can be punished with 5 years to life imprisonment. If a parent sends his own child to beg repeatedly, he will be considered an 'unfit parent.' After this, the state will take the responsibility of that child in its hands.

6. The whole society has joined

this campaign. Not just the government, but common people are also involved. Police, doctors, teachers, and social organizations are also helping the children. Everyone is working together to make the future of the children better. This is the reason why this campaign is proving to be very effective. This is not just a scheme; it is public participation.

7. No child should go hungry

The aim of 'Operation Jeevanjyot' is that no child should sleep hungry in Punjab. Every child should get education, food, and respect. The government says that if the weakest are taken care of, the society becomes strong. This is not just the law but the responsibility of humanity.
