Punjab Flood Relief: Punjab government is leaving no stone unturned to help the flood victims of Punjab. The Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has proved that real leadership is that which takes the challenge as a responsibility and comes into the field and stands with the soil of Punjab, every village, every street and every house.
The Health Department report of September 15 shows that the Mann government is setting an example of trust, not just relief. The special health campaign started in 2303 villages has awakened a new hope in the entire state. So far, health camps have been set up in 2016 villages, where the health of 51,612 people was examined and they were given treatment and medicines on the spot. These are the people who were helpless after the floods, but today with relief they are also feeling that the government is for them, and is with them. The biggest thing in this entire campaign is that the government itself is reaching out to the people.
ASHA workers have so far checked the health of 1,32,322 families by going door-to-door in 1,929 villages and have provided medicines and medical kits to the needy. These include ORS, paracetamol, Dettol, Band-Aid, cream and essential medicines. People themselves are saying that this is the first time that the government is knocking on the door without being invited.
Along with health, the rapid work done for cleanliness and disease prevention has also become the new face of Punjab's administrative working style. So far, mosquito breeding sites have been checked in 1,861 villages, in which 1,08,770 houses were screened, and taking immediate action on finding larvae in 2,163 houses, larvicide was sprayed in 23,630 houses. Apart from this, fogging was done in 878 villages so that threats like dengue and malaria could be rooted out. The speed of fogging is such that many villages are being covered in a single day. No corner, no street, no house has escaped the eyes of the government. All these are not just figures, it is the result of the thinking that sees the public as its family. When every minister, MLA, officer and employee of the government is in the field, when the teams have modern resources, medical equipment and technical strength, and when the intention to work is clear, then change becomes a reality, not just a dream.
Today, not only medicines are reaching the villages of Punjab, a message is reaching there that the government does not step back from responsibility, it goes ahead and fulfills its duty. This health mission of the Mann government is no longer just a government initiative, it has become a symbol of public trust. And this is the reason why the voice of Punjab is being heard clearly today, this is not a government, this is service… and the Aam Aadmi Party government is a true government!
