Punjab is facing severe floods, and the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has launched a massive relief effort to help affected people. So far, 15,688 residents have been rescued and moved to safer places, while 7,144 are staying in relief camps. The floods have impacted more than 2.56 lakh people across 1,044 villages. CM Mann personally visited Gurdaspur, Sultanpur Lodhi, and Pathankot to check the situation and assured families that they will receive help, compensation, and support to restore normal life.

CM Mann Connects Directly with People

What stood out was CM Mann’s hands-on approach. Instead of relying solely on aerial surveys, he walked through villages, personally interacted with residents, listened to grievances, and ensured solutions on the spot. This strong demonstration of his “People First” policy instilled confidence and hope among affected families.

Hands-On Support Across Districts

The campaign’s impact was amplified by active ministerial participation. Food & Supplies Minister Lalchand Kataruchak traveled village to village on a motorcycle, assisting people directly. Revenue Minister Hardeep Mundian went door to door in Sultanpur Lodhi to hear concerns. Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh flagged off relief trucks, while Education Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO joined villagers barefoot with a spade in Patti, Tarn Taran, to fill a landslide pit. In Faizilka, Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur distributed relief materials, and Panchayat Minister Tarunpreet Sond and Cabinet Minister Laljit Bhullar personally handed over aid in various districts. For the first time in history, all Punjab ministers donated their entire one month’s salary to the relief fund, signaling a commitment to action, not just words.

Innovative Measures and People-First Governance

The relief campaign provided not only physical assistance but also boosted morale. Over 3,200 ration kits, 17,000 food packets, and 45,000 water bottles were distributed. For livestock, 700 quintals of dry fodder and 1,450 feed bags were arranged. Additional measures included a 24/7 helpline, digital tracking of relief supplies, community kitchens, veterinary health camps, and counselling sessions for children, reflecting the government’s sensitivity and commitment. CM Mann emphasized that the Punjab government’s top priority is the safety and well-being of its people. Rising above politics, the focus remains solely on serving humanity. He confirmed that all affected families will receive compensation within 15 days through Direct Benefit Transfer, and the survey process has already begun via special girdawari (damage assessment). Today, Punjab can proudly say it has a government that stands with its people every step of the way. The Mann government’s flood relief drive has become a true example of service, dedication, and sensitivity—giving Punjab a new identity as a resilient and strong state.
