Adampur (Punjab): Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adampur airport on Sunday and unveiled the new name of the Airport as ‘Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji Airport, Adampur. PM Modi also inaugurated the Terminal Building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana, Punjab.
This move by PM Modi is a bid to to honour the revered saint and social reformer on his birth anniversary. Apart from Adampur, the people of Ludhiana also have reason to rejoice. The new terminal at Halwara is intended to boost the aviation infrastructure in Punjab, providing a crucial gateway for Ludhiana and its adjoining industrial and agricultural areas.
"On the auspicious occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas ji, the renaming of Adampur Airport honours the revered saint and social reformer whose teachings of equality, compassion, and human dignity continue to inspire India's social ethos," a statement from the PMO read.
"Aligned with prime minister's vision of sustainable and environmentally responsible development, the terminal incorporates several green and energy-efficient features, including LED lighting, insulated roofing, rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and the use of recycled water for landscaping," the PMO statement added.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget in Parliament on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the budget historic, saying that today's India is on the reform express. The budget will give it new energy and momentum. It will give wings to a self-reliant India. He said that MSMEs have received comprehensive support in this budget. Steps have been taken to strengthen infrastructure. PM Modi said that it reflects the strength of the country's women. This budget is a highway to immense opportunities.
After the budget presentation, PM Modi said, "The path-breaking reforms that have been undertaken give the courageous, talented youth of an aspirational India the open sky to soar. This budget further strengthens India's global role. India's 1.4 billion citizens are not satisfied with merely being the fastest-growing economy. We want to become the world's third-largest economy as soon as possible. This is the resolve of millions of countrymen."
He further added, "This budget reflects the vision of trust-based governance and a human-centric economic framework. This is a special budget that prioritizes reducing the fiscal deficit and controlling inflation, while also striking a balance between higher capital expenditure and robust economic growth." He said that India's role as a trusted democratic partner and a trusted quality supplier is continuously growing.
Regarding the trade agreement between the European Union and India, PM Modi said that major steps have been taken in the budget to ensure that the youth of India and the small and medium industries of India get the maximum benefit from the major trade deals that India has recently concluded, including the "mother of all deals." He also said that this budget presents an ambitious roadmap to give new momentum to the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) campaigns. The strong support given to new emerging industries in this budget is unprecedented.
