Punjab Desk: There is good news for the students of Punjab. In fact, 2 universities have been approved in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. While presenting the bill for 2 new universities in the Vidhan Sabha, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has said that if these two universities open, students will get new opportunities to do business along with studies. He said that the main agenda of his government is education. For the first time in 2022, a government had sought votes on the education agenda. He also appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal to go among the people and explain the importance of education.

Punjab is going to open new government colleges

The education minister further said that the Punjab government is soon going to open new government colleges in many areas, including Ajnala, Barnala, and Kiratpur Sahib. He said that now students from abroad are also coming to Punjab for studies. Also, special emphasis is being given to preparing children for future challenges in government schools so that they can get better opportunities. Till 2022, brain drain was a serious problem in Punjab. Eligible children used to go abroad, while scholarships for needy students were abolished by the previous governments. The Aam Aadmi Party government took several important steps to improve the situation.

Children are getting scholarships on time

He said that now all the Scheduled Caste children are getting scholarships on time, and all the universities are also getting grants on time. He also assured that no guest faculty will lose their job. The government has also started new courses that have good demand in the market so that the youth can get better employment opportunities.

Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa's response

On the issue of two new universities, Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa said that after the approval of two new universities in Punjab, the number of universities will increase from 17 to 19. He congratulated the government for this step and said that it will not put an additional burden on the government. But he asked the government to clarify its position on the proposed sports university in Jalandhar. He reminded them that during the Jalandhar district elections, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal had promised to open a sports university. What is the current position of the government, while Kejriwal himself has said that he is in favor of it?
