Rain, Thunderstorm to Hit North India; IMD Issues Alert For Delhi, UP, Bihar

The IMD has issued an alert for rain and thunderstorms in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab from March 18-20.

New Delhi: The weather has changed in many states of North India after an active western disturbance brought relief from rising temperatures across the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for rain and thunderstorms in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab from March 18-20.

In states where thunderstorms are likely, winds can blow at speeds of 30 to 70 kilometers per hour. Due to the rain and strong winds, temperatures will drop, bringing relief from the heat.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR?

A sudden onset of strong winds in Delhi-NCR has brought temperatures down and brought a break from the heat. Since Monday, residents of Delhi-NCR have experienced relief from the heat and a mild chill. Temperature will continue to drop in Delhi-NCR until March 19th.

The maximum temperature in Delhi could reach 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature could reach 14 degrees Celsius. Rain and thunderstorms are expected on March 18. Winds could blow at speeds of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour.

What about the weather in Uttar Pradesh?

The weather in Uttar Pradesh has also taken a sudden turn. Strong winds blowing over the past 24 hours have brought relief from the heat. In some places, rain accompanied by strong winds has also been observed.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms, dust storms, and light rain or drizzle in districts such as Meerut, Bijnor, Baghpat, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, and Hapur. Rain accompanied by strong winds is also possible in some places.

How will the weather be in Rajasthan?

Many parts of Rajasthan experienced drizzle on Monday, resulting in a drop in temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. Dry weather is expected across most of the state on March 17. Another strong western disturbance is expected to develop between March 18 and 21, bringing rain and strong winds.

Light rain accompanied by strong winds is likely at isolated places in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions on March 18. On March 19 and 20, light rain accompanied by strong thunderstorms is likely in parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions.

What about the weather in Bihar?

The weather in Bihar will be affected by a western disturbance for the next few days. The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning of thunderstorms, rain, and lightning in several districts of Bihar. The rain and strong winds will cause temperatures to drop

What about the weather in Uttarakhand?

The weather in Uttarakhand is currently pleasant. According to the India Meteorological Department, the state may experience rain and snowfall until March 20. Winds may blow at speeds of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour on March 19 and 20.

What is the weather condition of other states?

There may be intermittent rain and snowfall in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir till March 21.

Between March 18 and 20, strong winds along with rain may occur in the western Himalayan regions and adjoining plains.
There is also a possibility of hailstorm in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

Due to western disturbance, there is a possibility of rain and thunderstorm at isolated places in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh till March 22.

According to IMD, heavy rains may occur in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya on March 17.

On March 17, heavy rain may occur at some places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
