As per the reports, the Air India's flight AI138 bound to Delhi was scheduled to bring 256 passengers and 10 crew members to India for Diwali.

Air India Cancels Flight: More than hundreds of passengers, who were all set to join their families in India this Diwali, were left stranded in Italy's Milan as Air India's flight AI138 bound to Delhi was cancelled on Friday.

As per the reports, the flight was scheduled to bring 256 passengers and 10 crew members to India for Diwali. The officials reported that the airline could not take off due to the "extended technical requirement."

Air India Issues Statement

Air India has also issued an official statement in connection with the same. It has stated that the decision to cancel the flight was taken to "prioritise the safety of all passengers and crew."

Air India official statement read, “Flight AI138 from Milan to Delhi on 17 October was cancelled due to an extended technical requirement on the aircraft scheduled to operate the flight, prioritising the safety of all passengers and crew.” 

Rebookings for stranded passengers Arranged

Air India further stated that it has done proper arrangement for all the affected passengers and have provided with hotel accommodations. The airline statement read, "All affected passengers have been provided hotel accommodations; however, due to limited availability, accommodations were arranged outside the immediate vicinity of the airport." 

It further added, "Specifically, one of the passengers, whose Schengen visa expires on 20 October, has been rebooked on another airline's flight departing Milan on 19 October to ensure compliance with her visa validity."
