New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday detained two people for allegedly creating a disturbance near the venue of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s event in Gandhi Nagar. The programme, called Vastrika, was Gupta’s first major public appearance after the recent attack on her earlier this week. Addressing the gathering at the garment hub, she said that a large number of people living on the Yamuna’s eastern side are waiting for the river to be cleaned and assured that with time, “Mother Yamuna will look better and more beautiful.

Promises Made to Residents

The Chief Minister also highlighted her government’s development plans. She assured the crowd that new water pipelines and sewer lines will be laid across Yamunapar areas where they are missing. She added that more parking facilities will be created in places facing congestion, and public toilets will be built wherever needed. Rekha Gupta told the people, “I want to assure you that your Chief Minister Didi will neither fear nor give up. I shall continue to battle with you until Delhi is granted its rightful rights. It is my promise to stand with you always.”

Upcoming Engagements

Gupta is also scheduled to attend the finale of ‘Ideathon’, an event organised by the state industries department, at Ashok Hotel in Chanakyapuri at 4 pm today.
